My father and I need help picking out a laptop for my mother for christmas. She wont actually be getting it for christmas because I have to first convince her that she does not want a netbook.
My mother has a hard time understanding computer, she still uses the AOL program and no matter how hard I try to teach her to use internet explorer she just doesnt understand. I finally got her to have a yahoo email and she fights me the entire way saying its too complicated.
Anyway she learned how to use facebook and with my aunts help she loves to play farmville, cafeworld, etc. So now that she actually uses the computer for more than forwarding those stupid forwards and ordering books from the library exhange she wants a computer of her own that she can move around and such. She told my father she wanted a netbook. Well my husband just bought me one last week and I love it to death but I know my mother will hate it. I tried playing the facebook games she plays on it but its annoying not having the larger screen to work with and it is a little slower. She has no patience for this, i know she wont.
So anyway once I convince her that a laptop is a better option for her I need help figuring out what kind, It needs a built in wireless like a netbook and not too shabby so it can run the little facebook games, hulu, netflix, pictures etc. Obviously doesn’t need to be the top of the line and also the budget is on the lower end, towards netbook prices.
I realize that might be confusing or asking a lot but if anyone knows a decent laptop for just those uses I would be grateful.

that’s half an answer Jessica. What if your friends aren’t into those kinds of games, and they’re more business oriented…so THEN where do you find people who play those kinds of games you can invite to Facebook?

i have a compaq presario, less than a year old.
and as im on facebook playing yoville and cafeworld and i can tell there really slow. and when im on my desktop, the games are faster than my compaq laptop. wonder why? how can i speed up my laptop?

We have a desktop computer downstairs and then my laptop. When on the desktop Farmville runs fine, but on my laptop it runs at a very low frame rate for some reason. I can play games at double the graphical capacity on my laptop than I can on the desktop so I don’t understand why Farmville runs slow. I’ve never had anything run slow on my laptop, it’s just Farmville for some reason.
